How do i get AR9 to work with Visual Studio?

I installed VS 2017 and I am missing Report Explorer and the AR templates.

    Reinstall AR9?

It is not possible for me to upgrade my AR as I work on a 10 man programming team and I am the only report creator.

Unfortunately, AR9 is not supported on VS2017. You can run an existing application with AR9 in VS2017, however, you cannot add or design reports in VS2017, since AR9 was released much before VS2017 was. Support for VS2017 was added from AR 11 onward.

As a workaround you could design your reports in the ReportDesigner application and then add them in your project in VS2017.

The Designer will not open my existing files.

My files have a .vb, .resx, .Designer.vb extension. I have tried all three file types.

Those are files from a code based SectionReport. Unfortunately, you can’t open them in the stand-alone ActiveReports Designer. You’re going to need an earlier version of VisualStudio (VS 2015 or earlier) to be able to open the report or upgrade to ActiveReports 12, which is supported in VS 2017.

    Thanks
