In a Visual Studio Windows Forms App project I add an ActiveReports 17 RDL Report.

I change the Ruler Units to inches, but the grid in the designer remains in centimeter sized cells.

Also, in the properties window, all sizes default to cm.

Is there any way to get the report to default to inches instead of centimeters?

When I add a section report, the default is inches.

Unlike section reports, it looks like RDL reports are controlled by Windows system settings with no way to override them in the report. I changed system measurement settings from Metric to U.S. units and it now defaults to inches.

    Hi John,

The ruler units only change the ruler’s value (on the top and left of the report in the designer).

SectionReports by default uses inches and with no way to change it to centimeters.

However, the designer for RDL reports uses the value based on the metric value of your system but you can specify any value (inches or centimeters) by entering the same as “2.54cm” or “1in” using the property tab.
