AR11 PageReport FormattedText Excel output

I’ve created a very simple .rdlx report which contains a FormattedText box with some simple Html “

    Bold Test data.

” When this is exported to pdf the formatting is displayed as expected, but in excel export the formatting is lost.

I found an old [url=http://helpcentral.componentone.com/netHelp/AR9/Rendering%20to%20Excel.html]help page which says this is a known limitation, but nothing in the latest documentation.

Is there some way to preserve formatting in AR11? or newer versions?

    Thanks

    Version: 11.1.10161.0

    Thanks,

    Hi Mohit,

Any ideas when this limitation is expected to be fixed? AR12 perhaps?

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

We also are having numerous issues with exporting AR to excel. We have updated recently from an old version of AR (version 6) to version11. Examples include Text that was previously formatted as numbers is now appearing as text. We also have issues with centering and merging of cells with AR 11. We have tens of thousands of users that are going to be affected by these changes so we are hoping these limitations can be addressed soon.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

On your other post (https://www.grapecity.com/en/forums/ar-dev/exporting-a-document-to-ex), you mentioned you’re using a SectionReport. The limitations pertain to the ExcelRenderingExtension used with Page/RDL report. Please send across your report on your original post so I can look into it.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Unfortunately, fixing of this case assumes total re-implementing of Excel RE feature (and very big performance penalty). In bounds of Excel RE we can’t simulate per-block text processing. Excel RE operates on level of layout areas, retrieved from layout tree. Hence, it is not possible to fix this issue.

As a workaround, you could use Export Filter instead of Excel RE. Please refer the following link:

    http://help.grapecity.com/activereports/webhelp/AR12/webframe.html#ExportingReports.html

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Thanks,

    Mohit
