Hello, I’ve just upgraded to AR14, and am looking forward to having reporting in ASP.NET Core 3.1 apps!

Yesterday in the Webinar, someone mentioned that it’s possible for Section reports to work in ASP.NET Core, there are just a few minor issues that you’re working on.

Can you tell me how to make this work? I added the Nuget packages to my project & copied an existing page report to it, but the designer doesn’t show up.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

Sorry, It may some misunderstanding. SectionReport does not support Asp.Net Core. It supports the .Net Core 3.1 Desktop. We have some minor issues in .Net Core 3.1 Desktop version that we are trying to solve the issue.

If you really want to use the SectionReport in Asp.Net core then you can create the report service in the .Net Fw application and use the report service in the .Net core application to preview the SectionReport.

Also, Support of the Asp.Net Core in SectionReport is in our RoadMap but we don’t have any ETA for this.

    Hope it clarifies.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for your reply.

That’s what I have been doing is creating a full .NET Framework site & creating my reports there, but that is a major inconvenience.

All I would be looking to do is to generate the reports server-side & then send them down as PDF or Excel exports to the client. I don’t need a client viewer or designer.

Would this scenario be possible with ASP.NET Core?

    Thanks,

    Cliffe

    Hello Cliffe,

Sorry to mention that rendering of the SectionReport needs the .Net FW. You can’t render the SectionReport on in .Net Core project. If you need assistance with anything else please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Mohit

OK, thanks for that. But I should be able to render Page or RDL reports & then export them to PDF / Excel for download?

    Thanks,

    Cliffe
