  I am attempting to import an existing crystal reports .rpt file into FlexReport Designer, however whenever I attempt an import I get the error:

  Import failure. Please make sure that Crystal is installed on your system.

  Both CR for Visual studio and both 64 & 32 bit runtimes are on my machine, but this error continues. I’m using the latest version (SP 22) or crystal and version 4.0.20181.303 of FlexReport.

  I’ve tried reinstalling and uninstalling everything (CR & C1), and a number of different reports from different projects, is there something else i’m missing?

  We are definitely using a version of CR that is compatible with visual studio, as we are using crystal reports with it daily.

  We did some testing and digging and it seems as though the tool requires VS 2015 and an older version of the CR library to update, one of my developers downgraded his entire dev environment and found that he could convert, but only if both VS2015 and an older version of CR for visual studio is installed.

  On all machines with VS 2017 and compatible version or crystal reports, it doesn’t work.

  Still an issue in September 2018.

  EDIT: I’ll give some context on how to replicate the issue on a clean install of Windows

  Step 1: Install VS 2017
  
  Step 2: Install Crystal Reports Runtime and CRforVS (Crystal works fine in VS 2017 at this point)
  
  Step 3: Install ComponentOne WinForms
  
  Step 4: Import Crystal Reports Report File from C1FlexReportDesigner
  
  Step 5: “Import Failure, Please ensure crystal is installed on your system”

  Messy solution for those also waiting:

  • Uninstall CR-Runtime and CRforVS
  • Install VS-2015
  • Install CRforVS_13_0_17 and select “Install Runtime” from installer on complete.
  • You may also need to open a Crystal Report inside Visual Studio 2015

  Flex Report Designer Importer should now work…

  We are pleased to inform you that the issue while importing Crystal Reports is resolved with the build .324. However, please note that this build is untested. It can be downloaded from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/scaibas1lwso719/C1WinForms.4_4.0.20182.324.zip?dl=0
  
  Please note that you have latest Crystal Report installed at your end to check the same: SAP Crystal Reports 2016 SP6 + SAP Crystal Reports rintime for .NET
  
  Further, kindly add the dlls placed in the attached folder, to the Apps folder and then Import the Crystal Report in the C1FlexReportDesigner.
  
  Let us know if you face any issue after this.
