Chart Rendering Issue: Missing Graph Elements in Image Export from Formula-Base

When trying to generate an image from a chart inside a spreadsheet

the graph itself does not appear in the resulting image—only its title and legend are visible.

The cell values used for the chart are calculated through multiple layers of formulas across the spreadsheet, producing a percentage as the final value. However, when attempting to change the value type, the result is invalid, and a tooltip displays a number with many decimal digits

    Hi,

We are not able to replicate the issue you mentioned at our end. As per your license information, we have checked in Version 7 and 8 of DsExcel. Please refer to the attached sample and the screen recording illustrating the same (see below).

Over the past versions, we’ve been actively improving DsExcel’s chart-to-image export functionality. If you’re using an older version, we strongly recommend updating to the latest release to benefit from these improvements.

In case the issue persists in the latest release too, please help us by sharing the following:

    1. A stripped-down sample replicating the issue. You can also modify the sample attached at bottom.
    2. The file loaded into DsExcel Workbook.
    3. System configurations.

Additionally, it seems like the value calculated by the formula is not the exact value like 0.92, instead it is 0.920852917430667, due to which removing the percentage’s default format resulted into the display of ###… in the cell. This is visible when the value does not fit into the cell completely, therefore, the complete value is visible in the tooltip. To display the complete value in the cell itself, please autofit the column.

Please feel free to reach out if you encounter any further issues or require additional guidance.

    Hi,

Thank you for your detailed response.

We appreciate the clarification and the provided sample and screen recording. Based on your recommendations, we reviewed the behavior in the latest version as well. However, we are still encountering the same issue on our end.

To assist with further investigation, we have attached a simplified sample that replicates the issue, along with the actual file loaded into DsExcel. Please find both files attached to this response.

Our system configuration is as follows:

    DsExcel Version: 7.2.2

We understand this is due to the actual numeric precision of the calculated value. However, the chart image still does not render as expected, even after autofitting the columns and adjusting the formatting.

Please let us know if you need any additional details. We look forward to your support in resolving this issue.

    Best regards,

    Hi Prabhat,

    Thanks for your follow-up.

We’ve noted that only .zip and image files are supported as attachments here. Apologies for the earlier issue.

We’ve now attached the required sample project and input file in a compressed .zip format (approximately 200 KB). Please confirm if you’re able to access it correctly.

Let us know if anything else is needed.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

Thanks for sharing the Excel file. We cannot find the chart you mentioned previously; however, there are some other charts for which the data is not populated into the image output correctly. We are discussing these issues with the concerned team and will get back to you as soon as we get an update from them.

    [Internal Tracking ID: DOCXLS-12322]

You have also mentioned that you have attached a sample application that is not yet attached. In case the application performs any operation other than loading the workbook and generating the image outputs, please share the required.

You can refer to the sample application developed on our end to reproduce the issue: chartIssue.zip and the issues found in our investigation: Issues.txt

Please let us know if you are facing any other issues.
