Hi, I'm trying to install the latest version of the Spread for WinForms in a machine running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 32-bits.

The installation completes with no problems but once it is done it launches the license manager and it doesn't have any items there.

I tried using the controls, creating an empty WinForms project (in VS2015) and dragging a spread to the form, but an exception is displayed saying

"Failed to create component 'FpSpread'. The error message follows: 'System.ComponentModel.LicenseException: License cannot be confirmed. Error code: 01-002 at Grapecity.Licenses.PowerToolsLicenseProvider.OnError…"

The system originally had FarPoint Spread 4 installed, in case that might have some compatibility issues, however both applications were uninstalled and then the installation attempted again but the same issue keeps happening.

Any ideas on how to register it without the license manager working?

    Hello,

Do you have some registry cleaner or malware scanner program installed on your machine which might remove suspicious registry keys? That is a common cause of the problem you describe, but generally that problem results in losing all license information in the registry and License Manager showing an empty list (so there is not way to enter the license key anymore).

It seems that some program is preventing from accessing registries for license or modify them, even delete them but we are not able to replicate the issue at our end. Hence, in order to replicate the issue could you please provide us with your system configuration and also let us know which anti-virus is installed on your system.

And also, there are some log files that are put on the system when installing Spread and looking through them might give an indication as to what went wrong.

The log files can be found in C:\Users<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Temp

and should begin with the prefix “Spread_Studio_9”.

There should be roughly 9 files (might be different depending on the installation). Could you send the most recent of those log files (there are probably multiple sets if you’ve installed/reinstalled multiple times) so that I can look into what the issue might be?

Please share the same. We will look into the same thereon.

    Thanks,

    Reeva

    Hello,

In addition, the 002 error indicates that the installation is damaged, and can be fixed by the diagnosis tool. This can be found here:

    http://publicfiles.componentone.com/Kevin%20Ashley/Spread%20Utilities/DiagnosticTool_Spread9_v1.1.zip

Here are the steps to run:

    1. Unzip the file.
    2. Run the .exe and click “Start” button.
    3. A log file called “TraceLog.txt” will be generated in the current folder.
    4. If part of the license is damaged and meets certain conditions, a “Fix” button will appear.
    5. Click on the “Fix” button to fix the issue.
    6. If the issue is not resolved, then send the “TraceLog.txt” file back to us.

    Regards,

    Kevin

    Thanks for the update.

My IT team found out that the account was a “Guest” account in the domain, which was causing several issues (settings were removed once the user logged out), and that seemed to be the cause of the installation issue as well.

Once the account was changed to a “standard” account the license manager had the license listed and allowed me to register the purchased one.

    Thanks!

Hi Team, We have Active Reports developer installed on a developer machine. It was working for a year but suddenly it stopped working. Opening the License Manager console it show empty and no option to add license or reactivate the product.

I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it doesn’t ask me to enter the license serial at all. Already tried all the options mentioned in the post but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

The only choice I have is to reinstall the Windows completely to fix the problem. Please can you suggest if there any alternate option

    Hello,

I would suggest You to post your queries for ActiveReports in ActiveReports section here:

    https://www.grapecity.com/en/forums/ar-dev

In case the issue is pending, may I know the version of AR you working with? You can try with latest AR installer that should work just fine.

    Thanks,
