  Hi everybody,

  I am looking for the most recent versions of the ComponentOne VSPrinter and VSPDF 8.0 controls that I have been using for about 15 years. I found this website and dowloaded the ComponentOne controls but the closest I have come to the original controls is the C1PrintPreview control which I have not been able to use as I cannot find any documentation or manual to get it to work. Can anyone give me a hand in getting started? Thanks in advance!

  Hi Michel,

  The VSPrinter and VSPDF controls you mentioned are ActiveX controls, which are now considered legacy and are no longer supported by us. Currently, there are no direct replacements available for these controls.

  The C1PrintPreviewControl you referred to is part of the ComponentOne WinForms suite. It is built on an entirely different architecture, meaning its API and object model differ significantly from those of the legacy ActiveX controls.

  The VSPrinter control you mentioned was typically used to create documents and reports for previewing and printing from your applications. This control consisted of two functionalities:

  • Reporting and previewing: For this, you can use FlexReport for reporting and FlexViewer for previewing the reports.
  • Documenting and previewing: For this, you can use C1PrintDocument to create documents and C1PrintPreviewControl for previewing the documents.

  The VSPDF control you mentioned was typically used to create PDF files. In WinForms you can checkout out C1Pdf component for the same. If you were previewing these PDF files using VSPrinter, you can checkout the FlexViewer control instead.

  Hi Kartik,

  Thank you very much for your response. Since my first post I have explored a little the interaction between C1PrintDocument and C1PrintPreviewControl which I think can serve for the code I want to rewrite. I am left with one question: is there an offline manual, a pdf for example, with all the properties, methods, events, etc. of both of these controls? Last month I purchased your Spread control and it came with a SpreadWin18.pdf file which helped me a lot. Thanks in advance for your reply.

  Unfortunately, we do not have an offline documentation/manual for the ComponentOne WinForms controls. We only offer an online documentation, which you can access using the link below. The link includes the documentation for both C1PrintDocument and C1PrintPreviewControl.

  You can also explore our product samples for C1PrintDocument, which demonstrate various types of implementations.
