Is there a community edition or free license for personal projects?

    Hello C1,

I am developing a personal app (WinForms) for tracking my expenses etc. The main feature I want from C1 is the filter editor/builder to build complex filter queries, save them, apply to grid etc. So essentially the two controls I absolutely require are a filter control and a grid control. Rest I can manage with simple WinForms controls.

So to pay 1000 USD every year for just two controls, for an app that wont earn me anything is too steep for me.

    Here are the project details:

    • Number of devs - 1 (myself)
    • Earnings from the app - 0 USD
    • Controls required - 2 (a filter builder + a grid control)

Is there anything that’s less harsh?

Also, a second question: I suppose I could use the free trial and develop the app in 30 days, but does my app work after 30 days, forever? Is doing such a thing against the EULA between you and me?

    Regards,

    Nawfal

    Hello Nawfal,

You can check out our C1DataFilter and flag-shipped grid control C1FlexGrid for advanced filtering and showing data in the grid.

Please see the following documentation links to see how to use these controls:

    https://www.grapecity.com/componentone/docs/win/online-flexgrid/overview.html

    https://www.grapecity.com/componentone/docs/win/online-datafilter/quickstart.html

You can also find the product samples in the below-given link. And also if you install the product at your end the product samples will get installed in the Documents folder.

I suppose I could use the free trial and develop the app in 30 days, but does my app work after 30 days, forever? Is doing such a thing against the EULA between you and me?

The trial version is only for evaluating the controls for 30 days and you can not use it in the development as it will give you a trial nag always.

About the pricing and discount, you can contact the sales team on the email us.sales@grapecity.com.

We have also informed the sales team and they will contact you soon.

    Regards,

    Prabhat Sharma.

Alright. If I can ignore the nags, is using the app forever in trial mode against the EULA?

    Hello Nawfal,

No, as per EULA your software developed with the Evaluation License may not be distributed or used for any commercial purpose.

Please see Point 4 in the “GRANT OF LICENSE AND LIMITATIONS” section on page 7 for reference.
