    Dear All,

I have a licence for the Component One that I am using with VS2013. Now I want to move to VS2017.

    1. Can I install and use the same install file and do an update?
    2. Before I move my licence to the new computer (W10+VS2017) , I want to do some test and see if all application are imported without problem. Is this possible?

    Best regards

    Hello Said,

Please first share your ComponentOne version.

    1. VS17 was launched in late 2016, so all ComponentOne versions released post that are compatible with VS17 and run seamlessly. The versions prior to it should also work but since they were not tested with VS17, one might find issues using them along VS17.

Therefore, you’re suggested to use ComponentOne with version 2016v3/later.
    2. In order to test your existing applications in new environment, you are suggested to deactivate license from your current machine followed by activating your new machine with the same license.

      Deactivation
    3. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\C1StartMenu location
    4. Find C1LicenseDeactivation file, right click and select Run as Administrator
    5. Click the ? on right to Serial Number text-box. It would show your license key, double click that license key.
    6. Click Next

Your current machine will be deactivated.

    Activation

    1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\C1StartMenu location
    2. Find C1LicenseActivation file, right click and select Run as Administrator
    3. Fill in all the asked details, like Name, company and license key.
    4. Click Next
    5. Select Yes in confirmation dialog.

Your new machine will get activated.

    Thanks,

    Ruchir

    Dear Ruchir,

Thanks for the quick reply. the De/-Install is clear.

The first installation file was on 2015 and after that I had only to do the update via C1Live till today.

    1. What do you suggest to me?
    2. I found the following version “C1StudioInstaller20172.1.14” and I have download it. Could be this the easiest solution?

    Best regards

    Hello Said,

    1. You can use any version released after 2016v3. So, updating to any version later than 2016v3 would work with Win10+VS17.
    2. If you have an application that you need to maintain, you may use use C1StudioInstaller20172.1.14. Otherwise, you’re suggested to use the latest version as all the bug are fixed and all the features are added in latest version only.

For installing latest version please use following link: https://www.grapecity.com/download/componentone-studio

    Thanks,

    Hello Said,

In Win10, you can find FlexReportDesigner application installed at C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\Apps\v4.0 location. You may run the C1FlexReportDesigner32.4.exe or C1FlexReportDesigner.4.exe depending on your requirement of 32 bit/64 bit.

    Thanks,

    Hello Said,

Even if you have lost a machine, you still can activate ComponentOne. I checked your license keys myself and they still have activations remaining.

So, I’d suggest you to try and activate ComponentOne on your new machine using the same key.

If you get an error there, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ruchir

    Hello Said,

I can confirm this. We have recently ran into this issue where C1Live is not showing option for updating .Net 4.0 versions for WinForms. The developers have already been informed and they are working over this to fix it as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, to use latest 4.0 version assemblies I regret to inform you that you need to uninstall ComponentOne and use the latest WebInstaller available here: https://www.grapecity.com/download/ultimate.

Though, the C1Live issue would still be there, it would properly install the latest 4.0 version assemblies on your machine which can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\WinForms Edition\bin folder location.

    Thanks,

    Ruchir

    Dear Ruchir,

Can you please confirm that after doing this, i can use my License for it.

Otherwise i will always get the licence popup window that says it is not an official license.

    Best regards

    Dear Ruchir,

I have done the following as you said:

    1. I deinstalled all the Component one.
    2. i could not install from the web because of the Proxy. So i Download

C1Studios_20192.1.3 from the link and installed it.
    3. I checked the Folder ComponentOne , i can only see “C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\bin\v4”
    4. The question is where are all other modules like C1Flexreport and all other Folder?

I do not understand what is going on and i am in Trouble now. Applications has to be maintained, Reports has to be maintained and new must be done. All the Company is crying and i cannot do anything. The work is stoped.

The uninstall took me a half day.

I Need please a solution to get everything running like before.

    Best regards

    Hello Said,

I understand your situation and the loss in work due to it, but since the installation has completed successfully, there wouldn’t be any major issue.

    >>The question is where are all other modules like C1Flexreport and all other Folder?

I am not sure which files are you looking for?

Apps can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\Apps\v4.0

WinForms assemblies can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\WinForms Edition\bin\v4.0

Samples can be found at: C:\Users[UserName]\Documents\ComponentOne Samples

*Note: There was a temporary glitch in C1Live, which has now been resolved. However, since you already used 2019v2 installer, you wouldn’t need to use C1Live for update.

    Thanks,

    Ruchir
